Welcome Spaces: Encouraging Community Connection
The Welcome Spaces project has been set up to encourage community connection and friendship across Bracknell Forest. We select local activities for people to attend with no need to book. We aim for these sessions to be welcoming and easy to access. By linking people with activities, we hope to not only introduce more people to new and exciting local activities and opportunities, but to also create places where people can come together to chat, make new friends and relax in a supportive environment.
Community Navigation: Signposting Support Service
The Community Navigation Scheme, which is a free and confidential telephone and online support service, can help you to find social support, community resources, activities and groups within your community to improve your health and wellbeing. Our amazing community navigators help people with everyday issues by finding out what is available to best meet their needs and give guidance. You can refer yourself to this service online or by giving us a call.
Social Prescribing Link Workers
Our Social Prescribing Link Workers work across local GP surgeries to connect patients to relevant community activities, services and organisations, giving clients more time to focus on what matters to them. Our social prescribers normally provide slightly longer-term support than community navigation and referrals must be made by your doctors surgery. If you want to learn more about this service or be referred, please talk to your GP.
Berkshire Cancer Support Network & Cancer Champions
Our Cancer Support Network supports people with cancer at any point along their journey, along with their wider network of family, friends or carers. We provide support and offer social events to improve your health and wellbeing so that you can meet others who know how you feel. Some of the activities we run include gentle exercise classes, group meet-ups, wildlife walks, wellbeing workshops, arts and crafting sessions, educational presentations, and much more! These events run regularly and are hosted both in-person and online.
Have you got something you’re worried about but don’t know who to ask? We can provide relevant information and resources, and we also offer an online support group and a one-to-one volunteer befriending scheme.
