Please join us for our bi-annual volunteer fair to find out about ways you can get involved and make a difference in your local community… If you are interested in volunteering, or if you just want to learn more about Involve or the voluntary and community sector as a whole, then please feel free to come and say hello!

On Saturday 24th October from around 11am until 2:30pm, we will be in the Bracknell Town Centre in the Princess Square Mall with various stalls to showcase what some local charities and good causes in the area have to offer, and the multiple ways you can help out and volunteer within your community.

We have invited various local voluntary and community sector organisations to come along so there will certainly be a variety of different opportunities for people to learn about and so much information about our amazing third sector for everyone to discover!

The Green & Active Project

This is an exciting conservation volunteering project which aims to get people outside, enjoying nature, gaining new skills, and trying new activities, all whilst improving physical and mental health. Volunteers undertake various environmental tasks with the aim of improving biodiversity, helping wildlife, and, overall, enhancing local green spaces. More info: involve.community

Binfield Environment Group

BEG is a voluntary organisation, formed in 2017 by residents who care about the local environment and want to help improve it and safeguard it for future generations. They run various regular activities and events which we are always interested in receiving more volunteers for. More info: binfieldeg.com

Warfield Environment Group

WEG is a local group run by Warfield residents who care passionately about the area in which they live. They run regular environment themed events such as bat walks, hedge planting, flower planting, litter picks and newt surveys and are always happy for new helpers to come along to assist with these activities. Wildlife in Ascot

Wildlife in Ascot is a local charity focused on protecting and enhancing biodiversity in Ascot and the surrounding areas. Led entirely by volunteers, they work closely with the community to create habitats, improve green spaces, and encourage nature-friendly gardening. More info: wildlifeinascot.org

Age Concern Bracknell

Age Concern offers a day centre for local elderly residents to attend. They also run intergenerational community groups, clubs, outings and events that aim to act as a beacon of inclusivity by combating isolation at every level. They require various volunteers including befrienders, lunch time assistants, voluntary drivers, group helpers, gardeners, and more. More info: ageconcernbracknell.org.uk

Rotary Club of Easthampstead

Easthampstead Rotary is a group of local people who meet regularly to chat, share ideas, and plan fundraising projects. They primarily support people in Wokingham and Bracknell who need a helping hand and assist local charities with their work by offering fundraising opportunities and running community events. By becoming a member, you have the opportunity to volunteer with a friendly group making a difference locally. More info: rotary-ribi.org/clubs/easthampstead

Age UK Berkshire

AgeUK Berkshire are the leading organisation providing integrated health and wellbeing services for older people across Berkshire, enabling older people to enjoy later life. They run a befriending service for elderly people struggling with social isolation across the Bracknell Forest borough and are always in need of new volunteers to visit and chat with clients. First Days Children’s Charity

First Days exists so that one day they will no longer have to; They believe that there is no place in society for charities like theirs, and would like to close doors for good because there is no longer need in the community. They help families in need by offering essential items, giving children opportunities to feel safe at home and school, and providing coaching to parents struggling financially. Every First Days volunteers helps make a huge difference to the level of support provided to local families. More info: firstdays.net/volunteer

ABC To Read

In a diverse area like Berkshire there are many children who have trouble with reading. ABC to Read helps hundreds of children each year to enjoy reading and gain an essential skill for life. They recruit and train volunteers who act as mentors for these children and go into local primary schools across the local area to teach them how to read in a one-on-one setting. The Ark Trust

The Ark is a local charity supporting people with disabilities and long-term health conditions, unpaid and family carers and the wider community. Whether you can support the community response, you are interested in assisting at social groups, or you fancy helping out at their Forget-Me-Knot charity shop, there are plenty of volunteer roles which need to be filled! Bracknell Local Exchange Trading System

Local Exchange Trading Systems (or LETS) work using an “I’ll scratch your back, you’ll scratch mine’ philosophy. The group is made up of local people who want to simply help each other out. It’s all about helping each other out; one person helps another, and then that person helps another, and so on and so forth! The Bracknell LETS runs on a ‘Bricks’ exchange system and run regular community events. Anyone can get involved! More info: bracknell-lets.co.uk

Bracknell Forest Community Climate Action

BFCCA was created by local residents who are passionate about creating a more sustainable future for Bracknell Forest and its communities. They are actively seeking new volunteers, so if you would be interested in helping the local community reduce our use of fossil fuels and protect the environment, please enquire about joining. Andy’s Man Club Bracknell

Andy’s Man Club is a national campaign advocating for more awareness of and support for men’s mental health. They aim to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health by creating judgment‑free, confidential spaces where men can be open about the storms in their lives. They run two volunteer‑led support group sessions every Monday evening at the Rowans Centre and Great Hollands. More info: andysmanclub.co.uk

Berkshire Vision

Berkshire Vision provides vital practical and friendly support services and activities for people with visual impairments. As a volunteer you will give your time, energy and enthusiasm to support people with visual impairments to help them develop confidence and live safely and independently. Volunteers get involved with various roles including RealEye guides, telephone befriending, assisting with clubs, social or sport activities, admin and more. More info: berkshirevision.org.uk
