Why should your organisation use inTRUSTed for training your trustees?

As well as a wide range of courses for the local charity sector across Bracknell Forest and Wokingham Borough, involve also regularly provides training for individual trustees and committee members from all sizes of charities, community and voluntary groups. Our regular training webinars for trustees are currently provided virtually using Microsoft Teams as two-evening two-hour sessions. By the conclusion of the training, you will have learnt about:

  • The size, limitations & scope of English & Welsh charities
  • The most-appropriate legal structure for your charity
  • The Charity Commission’s definition of the essential duties of a trustee & what that means for you in plain language
  • Personal liability, how to manage / limit that, & other concerns
  • How to recognise & manage conflicts of interest & loyalty
  • The different roles on a Board & how they fit together
  • Why it’s important to plan your exit & how to find new trustees
  • The expectations of you as a trustee from:
  • your funders and the Regulator
  • your fellow trustees
  • your employees (if any)
  • your volunteers, and
  • your beneficiaries
  • Where advice, help & support is available

All attendees get to participate in interactive quizzes, discuss scenarios about trustee challenges and ask any questions about being a charity trustee. Everyone gets a wide range of written resources and practical governance advice after the session.

The course is suitable for people absolutely new to charity trusteeship, as well as longer-established trustees. The course uses up-to-date data about charities and reflects regular updates to charity law and regulations. If you haven’t undertaken trustee training before, or you’ve not updated your knowledge recently, the course will fit your needs. The course also gives you asynchronous access to good governance resources before and after the course, plus ongoing email access to involve‘s experts on charity governance.

Alternatively, if you think your organisation would benefit from an independent bespoke training course for your whole Board, we can create one tailored to your group’s exact needs, working with you to decide on content, scope and delivery.
