Volunteers Week 2020 – #HelpFromHome
Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering. This year, because of the coronavirus situation, the normal events won’t be taking place across the nation, so organisations will be finding different ways to say thank you to their brilliant volunteers and encourage more people to get involved in their communities.
At involve, we’ve been at the forefront of the community response in Bracknell Forest along with Bracknell Healthwatch and Bracknell Forest Council. More than 400 out of 1,800 recruited community response volunteers in Bracknell Forest are volunteers who are working with us at involve to provide longer term, tailored support for residents. Our volunteers have offered 566 hours of their time to local people via our buddying scheme since the response was set up. The scheme pairs vulnerable people who require regular support with a volunteer buddy to assist the person or household by supporting them with tasks each week. This has helped towards the 90 households currently receiving ongoing support services.
We are so grateful to everyone who has got involved in helping vulnerable people in the community during this difficult time! To those of you who still want to help out but have to stay at home, we’ve compiled a list for Volunteers Week of local charities that still require assistance during this time and have opportunities that can be done from home…
