New Cancer Support Network Set Up in Wokingham

by | Mar 8, 2019 |

Have you, or has someone you know, been struggling with cancer? A Cancer Support Network has been set up by a local charity, involve Community Services, for people in Wokingham who have been or are currently affected by cancer.

The aim of the project is to support people with cancer at any point along their journey. This scheme brings together information and resources, and offers emotional support through a volunteer network. People can access the service through a referral which may be from a GP, health professional, family member or self-referral.

Monthly meet-ups are also available, bringing together people in the community affected by cancer and giving them the opportunity to meet each other and share experiences. Our upcoming meet-ups will be March 21st 2019, April 18th 2019 and May 16th 2019, all from 2-4pm at the Wokingham Library.

We are currently looking for volunteers to either offer 1-on-1 support for someone going through a similar situation to theirs, or to help out at the monthly meet-ups.

Please get in touch with the scheme co-ordinator, Vickie Randall, on either 01344 304 404 or, to enquire about becoming a Cancer Champion, or visit our website for more information – .
