Vacancies for Befriending Volunteers

Urgent requirement - can you volunteer?

Our Community Navigator project is delivered by volunteers so we need local volunteers to come and join the Navigator team.

As a Community Navigator you will be part of a team of volunteers linked to GP surgeries and community venues, working with individuals to identify their support needs and signpost them to appropriate sources of support.

You will give information to the individuals but this isn’t an advice service and you will not be acting as a counselor, support worker or befriender.

The Navigator project uses technology to enable you to complete searches with individuals using the service to find the right information. You will receive training on how to use the equipment as well as training in confidentiality, boundaries, lone working and safeguarding.

We are looking for volunteers to give around 2-4 hours a week but this is flexible.

There are monthly Navigator team meetings that we encourage volunteers to attend as they give an opportunity to offer feedback on the project, meet other Navigators, share knowledge and receive further training or information about the different services and charities working in the area.
