Volunteer Week 2018
#VolunteersWeek has taken place again this year from 1st till 7th June 2018. There have been so many charities & organisations sharing their events & saying thank you in and around Bracknell & the surrounding area, and across the rest of the UK, through Social Media.
We’ve officially launched our new Volunteering website, Bracknell Forest: Get Involved!
On the new website you can:
• search for the type of position you want
• browse all the latest listings
• apply directly for positions
• browse by categories, including just those listings suitable for people aged 18 & under or with additional needs
• add a listing (one of our team will review the content and if it is suitable, we will add it to the opportunities)
We wanted to create a new, easy way for people to find great volunteering opportunities that are suitable and enjoyable for them, and for them to be able to apply to the organisations directly. Be sure to share the site around with colleagues; we want to get as many people as possible involved in volunteering in and around Bracknell Forest!
We ran events on Saturday 2nd June that both encouraged and celebrated volunteering.
Our Volunteer Services Manager, Diane Benford, organised a Volunteer Breakfast, to thank our existing volunteers in Bracknell, including many of our Befriending Volunteers, to also encourage them to tell their friends about the benefits of volunteering & to get more people involved! The Breakfast was attended by the Bracknell Town Mayor, Sandra Ingham, and the Bracknell Forest Council Mayor, Councillor Alvin Finch.
Our Administrator, Clarissa Webb, also set up a stand outside our offices in Bracknell Town Centre for the morning, where she showcased the new website to the public, and encouraged more people to volunteer across Berkshire.
