Bracknell’s Summer of Fun
Throughout August, we have attended some of Bracknell Town Council‘s Summer of Fun Events & as well as various other events & fêtes. These are on every year at various locations across Bracknell Forest to highlight the work of local organisations & to entertain the kids with lots of fantastic games, toys, activities & food! We attended four of these events to talk to the people of Bracknell about volunteering & what we do at involve.
Saturday 9th June at Warfield Memorial Ground
The Warfiel ête kicked off the start of these various summer events. Organised by Warfield Parish Council, our Volunteer Services Manager Diane & ou upported Volunteering & Community Choices Service Co-ordinator, Angie, were the lucky ones who attended the firs vent of the summer in Bracknell Forest, where they talked to people about local volunteering. ☀️
Saturday 21st July at Wildridings Playing Field
The second summery event we attended was the Bracknell Show, organised by the Bracknell Forest Lions. Diane & Clarissa were the staff who went to this second event & they talked to people about the new online Bracknell Forest Get Involved volunteering website.
Wednesday 1st August at Wildridings Playing Field
Diane & Lynn attended the first Summer of Fun event together & talked to people about volunteering both with involve & our befriending scheme, and at other organisations using our new website to find the best roles.
Tuesday 7th August at Farley Wood Centre, Binfield
Diane & Clarissa headed along to Binfield with plenty of toys which were donated to us from an organisation which shut down. We hoped to give away as many of the toys as possible, preferably for a small donation, & some of them were well received by the children who attended!
Tuesday 14th August at Morgan Recreation Grd, Crowthorne
On this day, Diane & Kate went along to talk to people about volunteering again. We got to talk to some lovely people & were even greeted by the mayor!
Wednesday 29th August at North Lake, South Hill Park
On the last event we attended, Diane & Clarissa set up their stall in South Hill Park with a mini tombola, with the aim to raise some money & awareness for involve & our work.
We got to talk to lots of people again about volunteering & Bracknell Forest Get Involved, & we even got some new sign ups for the Volunteer Pool! It’s been a lovely summer overall, being able to attend these great events, and this was a great way to finish everything off!
