How to Fundraise & Help Support Local Charities From Home
We hope you’ve all had a lovely nice long Easter Weekend! (With lots of chocolate Easter Eggs and treats!🐰🥚🍫)
Despite the lock-down, work for the charity sector still goes on, although mostly remotely, with many charities, especially small and local charities, struggling with resources and funding during this difficult time. At involve we’ve become a part of the local community support response in Bracknell and Wokingham Boroughs.
We’re also continuing to work hard to support the local voluntary and community sector during this difficult time. There are ways you can help too, even if you need to stay at home… Whether you are able to volunteer with the local community response, or not, any help you can give is much appreciated. And at the moment, a lot of small charities can’t run their normal fundraising events so are struggling with income from donations. Therefore, if you are able to do some fundraising to help a local charity, we’ve created a little list of fundraising tips and tricks from home.
Join a local lottery – For example, you can support involve and other charities by signing up to join the Bracknell Foresr Lottery, which is still while also potentially winning some great prizes!
Virtual Meet-Up/Coffee Morning – Invite friends & family to an over the internet get-together, and set up a charity fundraiser in order for people to join the call.
Swear or Eco Jar – Set up a jar to collect money at home. Either add money when you swear, or when you do something unfriendly for the environment. This will also work for giving up something else, such as unhealthy snacks!
Make A Poster – Design a poster or infographic highlighting the great work of your chosen charity. You can then display it on social media and on your house’s windows to encourage interest in your cause & raise donations! Make sure you include a fundraising link!
Sell Your Skills – Teach people a special skill that you have such as cooking, knitting, playing guitar, singing, dancing, etc. You can do this by video chatting or making videos on YouTube. Those who wish to learn can pay a small fee to access the video which goes to charity!
Online Shopping Donations – GiveAsYouLive allows you to donate money to charity every time you shop online. Create an account and add the extension to your browser to start fundraising! You can support involve in this way too!
Raise While Searching the Web – EveryClick allows you to raise money for charity just by searching the web when using their search engine! You can also support involve in this way as well!
There are lots of ways you can help local charities during this difficult time, either by volunteering or fundraising! You can also find extra fundraising ideas by viewing our list from Christmas time when we shared an Advent Calendar full of fun fundraising ideas! Thank you to everyone for your ongoing support!
