De-escalation Online Training

This course, delivered by Duncan McKenzie aims to enable delegates to:
• Identify why people become angry or aggressive
• Recognise the early warning signals of impending aggressive or challenging behaviour
• Practice how to remain in control in the face of aggressive behaviour
• Explore the skills of listening, questioning and empathy as a means of calming and
• engaging an angry person
• State how controlling body language, voice and the use of space can exert a positive influence on people
• Identifying the use of assertive techniques in being able to challenge inappropriate
• behaviour and gain compliance with your requests
• Describe a range of skills used to defuse aggression or high states of anxiety in others
